Be Careful! Youメre Being Watched!!

There's a popular Christian song that has in its lyrics the words, "Youメre the only Jesus , someone may ever see." To be sure that's an awesome responsibility! One that reminds me of a prisoner, named Roy, who was being paroled.

Roy had finally completed his sentence. He couldn't wait to be free: to smell the fresh air, to walk in the sun, to begin anew. He had waited a long a time for this day. For twelve years Roy had been confined and during that time he heard the Gospel and invited Jesus into his life. He told a friend, "Jesus said to me, 'I will come and we will serve time together.' And we did. I couldn't have done it without Him."

As Roy was leaving his cell block to begin his new life, an inmate handed him a two-paged letter. The letter began, "You know perfectly well that when I came to jail, I despised preachers, the Bible, and anything that smacked of Christianity. I went to Bible class and the preaching service because there wasn't anything else interesting to do. Then they told me you were saved. 'Hmmm,' I thought. There's another guy whose taking the Gospel road to earn parole. But Roy, Iメve been watching you for over two years now. I've watched you in the shop, when you played, and while you ate. I've watched you all over. You never made a slip, buddy." When Roy read those words, he broke out into a sweat, as he thought to himself, "Just think of what it would have meant if I had slipped--even once!"

Like Roy, we too are being watched by those we may not be aware of or even know are watching us. They're watching us at work, at home, at church, at the grocery store, at school, at the restaurant and elsewhere. Therefore we need to remember the fact that we represent Jesus to that person and we may be the only Jesus that person will ever see!

With Love From Jesus,

Pastor David
