Love: The Most Powerful Force in the World!

She was born Agnes Gonzha Bojaxhiu on August 24, 1910. She was the daughter of a prosperous business contractor, however her father died when she was just seven. By the time she was twelve, she had already decided what her vocation would be. As she continued to grow older, she exemplified selfless love by giving all that she had: her food, clothing and money to anyone who had a need. Determined to make a difference, she used every obstacle that threatened to undo her as a stepping stone for even greater and bolder dreams. When she received the Nobel Peace Prize, she asked that the $7000 set aside for the banquet be used instead for the poor, since, as she put it, モpoverty and distress also constitute a threat to peace.ヤ She went on to say, モWe need to tell the poor that they are somebody to us, that they too have been created by the same loving hand of God, to love and be loved.ヤ We knew her best as Mother Teresa.

Simple and humble, yet tireless in her work for the Lord, Mother Teresaメs life was characterized by a love that was far deeper than the kind that is characterized on television or advertised on cards or in magazines. Without a doubt she lived I Corinthians 13, and by doing so, she gave witness to our Saviorメs love, who truly gave His all for us.

February is the month when we Americans put a great emphasis on romantic love. In fact, just a couple of days ago, most of us examined our relationships and sought to honor those closest to us with gifts and cards. As admirable as this may be, we need to practice loving those around us today and every day, not just one month or day out the year. Why? Because, in the end, it is true agape or unconditional love that will last. As Mother Teresa herself said, モItメs not what you do, but how much love you put into it that matters.ヤ

My dear brothers and sisters, the most desired gift is not diamonds, roses or chocolate. Itメs ourselves! To be sure when all is said and done, people donメt want things, they just want to be loved and to know that we care. Therefore, モBe full of love for others, following the example of Christ who loved you and gave Himself to God as a sacrifice to take away your sins.ヤ (Ephesians 5:2 LB), remembering that love is the most powerful force in the world.

Happy Belated Valentineメs Day!

With Love, From Jesus,

Pastor David
