Update on Annual Planning Retreat

This past Saturday approximately 30 members gathered with me and the Rev. Eddie Taylor for our Annual Planning Retreat. From morning until afternoon we were led by Rev. Taylor further discussing the Natural Church Development approach to church growth.

After all was said and done, I heard several comments that convinced me that it was time well spent. I commend those 30 or so who devoted themselves to this worthwhile cause and for helping our church to look at our present ministries in light of the past, present and future. Your commitment, time wise and otherwise, is much appreciated by me, as well as the rest of the church.

Understanding that not everyone could be or needed to be at our Retreat, I want to assure you that our intent is to keep everybody informed of the results of our dialog and discussions.

The plan at this point is for the Church Health Team, which presently consists of Donna Easterling, Francis Hipp, Andrea Johnston, English Pearcy, and Marie Stiles, to assess and compile the information gathered at the Retreat. After doing so, the Church Health Team is to help us put together a long-term plan that will enable us to further capitalize on our strengths and constructively work on our "minimum factor," which is FUNCTIONAL STRUCTURES.

To be sure, as always, the task before us is challenging, to say the least. But with your prayers, presence, gifts and service, and God's divine intervention, we are sure to succeed in our efforts to help advance the Gospel and grow the Kingdom, provided we wholeheartedly embrace the fact that the Lord wants us to continue growing, both qualitatively and quantitatively.

This being said, I sincerely thank you for yielding your love and support to help me, your pastor, and striving to be and doing everything we can to increase our efforts in winning souls to Christ.

With Love From Jesus,

Pastor David

Mark 4: 26-28 He also said, "This is what the kingdom of God is like. A man scatters seed on the ground. Night and day, whether he sleeps or gets up, the seed sprouts and grows, though he does not know how. All by itself the soil produces grain--first the stalk, then the head, then the full kernel in the head.(NIV)
