The Value of Giving

Stewardship is a way of life. It is a way of living each day in gratitude for all the blessings that God has given to us. The roots of stewardship can be found in the Bible, which tells us over and over that God is the creator and Giver of all gifts. It is our responsibility to show our gratitude to God for these gifts, by giving back to him the "first fruits".

"First Fruits" is an Old Testament term. When the first harvest was taken in, the first ten percent went to God. Today, that means when your weekly, bi-weekly, monthly or commission check comes to you, the first thing you do is set aside 10% to give to God. That 10% is His gift to you and your tithe is your sign of appreciation and affection to Him.

For the next five Sundays we will focus on four different aspects of Stewardship; Trusting, Talent, Treasure and Time. We will have various members of our congregation speaking during our worship service as to how their lives have been affected by these different means of stewardship.

Our stewardship campaign will culminate on November 18, Consecration Sunday, with our guest speaker being the Reverend Timothy Rogers. When what you have in your hand is not enough to meet your needs, what you have in your hands is your seed.
