BACK TO SCHOOL SPLASH

Saturday, July 26, is the first of five days of special activities at Trinity.  This is our third “Splash” and will be the largest ever with almost 100 children from Saluda River reserving school supplies for the 2014-15 year.  Also, we will be distributing fliers in the neighborhood to reach out to others who may want to join us as well.  With this many children and their parent(s) attending, we’ll need many volunteers to make this event a success.  The Men’s Club will be cooking hot dogs and chili, the youth will be helping supervise activities on the water slide, and the United Methodist Women and the Outreach team will be serving in the kitchen and distributing school supplies. We’ll have free snow cones and will be pre-registering for vacation Bible school, too. The final activity of the day will be a drawing for door prizes. Some suggested items are: grocery store or Walmart gift cards ($10), inexpensive school back packs, or restaurant gift cards from McDonald's, Wendy’s, etc. ($5). If you are willing to donate gifts or money for the door prizes, please give them to Marie Stiles by Sunday, July 20. Sign-up sheets for volunteers will be on the table in the Gathering Area, and we need YOU to join us as we welcome our neighbors.  Monetary donations for the purchase of school supplies may be given to Marilyn Lloyd or Lynn Martin.  If writing a check, please make it payable to United Methodist Women.  If you’d prefer to purchase school supplies, a list of needed items is available on the bulletin board across from the office.  If you sign up to purchase an item, please be sure to have it turned in by July 12.   You may place it in the Visions classroom located on the front hall.   As noted at the beginning of this article, this is the first of five days of events:  Sunday, July 27, we will have an Ice Cream Social to kick off VBS which will be held July 28, 29 and 30.  Please read details of these activities elsewhere in the newsletter and mark your calendar so you won’t miss any of these opportunities to be in ministry to our community.  The “Splash” will be held from 10 to 11:30 on the 26th, so plan to join us for a morning of fun, food and fellowship
